Technica Engineering Spain Introduces “TraceAnalyzer” and “TestPilot”: The Path to AI-Augmented Testing

As modern vehicle architecture becomes increasingly complex, the demand for efficient verification and validation grows. Addressing this challenge, Technica Engineering Spain has introduced TraceAnalyzer and TestPilot, two AI-supported tools designed to automate the most labor-intensive aspects of network testing.

From Requirements to Code

One of the primary bottlenecks in automotive engineering is the translation of functional safety requirements into actual code. TestPilot addresses this by interpreting these requirements and translating them into structured test specifications. These are then automatically converted into executable tests within Technica’s MTF framework.

By automating repetitive coding tasks, TestPilot not only accelerates development cycles but also ensures robust traceability between the original requirements and the final test artifacts.

Deep Dive Validation

While TestPilot handles specifications, TraceAnalyzer focuses on the integrity of the network itself. The tool provides automated inspection of MACsec (MKA) communication traces.

“Verification and validation of communication traces are crucial for safety and reliability,” says Edward L. Campbell Hernández, Ph.D., AI Lead at Technica Engineering Spain. “With TraceAnalyzer, we can detect hidden anomalies such as packet overflows or state-flapping events that have no fixed diagnostic rule.”

Currently, the prototype proves the feasibility of using machine learning to catch irregularities that static rules miss. Future iterations will incorporate unsupervised learning and graph-based temporal analysis to capture richer data relationships, along with support for protocols like SomeIP and TLS.

The Road Ahead

Technica Engineering Spain plans to refine these architectures for performance while maintaining a commitment to Explainable AI, ensuring that engineers understand not just that an anomaly occurred, but why.
